DR House was conceived as a deeply personal family home, bringing together architecture, interiors and landscape within a single design response. The family’s spiritual beliefs became a central influence on the architecture. Rather than treating worship as an isolated room or decorative element, the design explores the idea of an omnipresent divine presence within nature and the built environment. The overall form developed as an abstract gesture of a respectful bow toward the eastern sun, while Vasthushastra principles were carefully considered throughout the planning and development of the house.

The central architectural core functions both as the staircase enclosure and as a wind tower. Its louvres were specifically detailed to direct air toward the interior spaces. The tower becomes an important part of the natural ventilation strategy, supporting continuous movement of air through the house and allowing climate response to become part of the spatial experience.
